it has been a great year for me.. a total rollercoaster ride - met a lot of new people, made new friends, grew apart from some, rekindled old ties, new flames sparked while some fizzled out..

in the past 365 days, i’ve gone through a lot enough to last me a lifetime. just kidding. but after much deep thought, some serious reflection, half a pack of reds and a venti latte, i’ve come up with the following, umm.. thoughts. or whatever.

i’ve learned that i really have to be careful in what i wish for, at times, it’s a total surprise how it’ll be granted and i end up wishing i hadn’t wished for it.. and i really, really have to be specific in making wishes. I’ve learned that God has a sense of humor in granting wishes. new year’s resolution: be more specific. enough with vague wishes (or anything vague for that matter).

i’ve discovered that tight situations bring out the best and worst in people, and in the process i was able to distinguish between my real friends and the superficial ones.. and i’m glad i did. believe me, you wouldn’t want to be stuck in the middle of the desert with someone who’d demand for your single, solitary bottle of water because she thinks she "deserves" it more than you do..

there came a time when i felt that i’ve grown apart from a friend and that it hurt when no matter how hard i tried to rekindle the sparks of our friendship, i failed in doing such and so i just tried to find a way to break off with her but i end up feeling that letting go is hard, but realizing that she has already let me go is harder..

at any given time, there’s always one person who irritates me to the bone but whom i care for nonetheless. and no matter how she pisses me off, i always, always manage to count from one to ten in order to resist biting her head off..

there’s no looking back once i’ve selected ‘mark all’ then ‘delete’ from my phone’s messages folder. and that there really is no recycle bin in my phone.. and that it’s actually the first step in getting over someone: deleting that folder-ful of cheesy/mushy/oh-so-kilig-to-the-bone messages from a ‘used-to-be’.

as much as i refuse to admit it, i’ve matured a bit this year.. i’ve learned to accept that there are things i can and cannot change and that i can change those that can be changed, i just have to muster enough willpower to do so.

Girlfriends are some of God’s greatest gifts any girl can ask for. They’re there to laugh, cry, act goofy, act bitchy with you at any given time. i’m lucky to have a lot of ‘em. even if it’s a major pain in my booty to round ‘em all up sometimes, bonding with them is priceless.
